Naraka

Origin:

Back in 2011, on the return drive from visiting my folks from college, I was struck with an idea that combined many of my passions and felt compelled to pull over on the side of a busy interstate to sketch it out before it was forgotten. When I eventually switched majors to Music Media Production, I was faced with the question of what I would produce for a senior project; despite the equipment and fiscal barriers, I was able to successfully fund the project through Kickstarter and have since spent the last four years developing it further into a unique, robust electronic performance interface.

Technical Synopsis:

Using Max/MSP to control the functions of the electronics and Ableton Live 9 to synthesize and sequence that data into live sound, "Naraka" is a full-body, kinetic MIDI aparatus, constructed with the focus of choreographing performance techniques to resemble dance-like motion while performing.

Details can be found HERE and the full documentation of it's original development can be found HERE (Please note that the name has changed throughout the course of the project's development. The Kickstarter features the original name, the writeup features its previous name, and it has been officially confirmed for it's current name to match Andrew's performance moniker, "Mephysto.")
